A first impression is so important. I hate to see blogs that have the default wordpress theme, it lacks imigination, and makes me imediatly dislike the writer.If after at least 6 posts you have not tried to play with your blogs structure a little, you are going to loose readers.
It really doesn’t take much changing, or imigination, there are hundreds of easily custimisable themes availabe from wordpress.

@WD Favour: Surprisingly is wasn’t that bad. Almost like a small vacation.
It got me brainstorming some great ideas I’m going to be doing with the blog.
And as far as my readers, they fell off sharply almost immediately, but with a matter of days, the numbers started climbing again even with the problems I was having.
I’ve had a few dodgy host’s in my time, I’m at a okay one atm I might just buy my only VPS
