The Story of The Fail Whale

I’ve been seeing other online bloggers and social network peers, mostly twitterers, mentioning fail whale everytime that something failed to work for them, or failed to load at all, so naturally I became interested in finding out what this “Fail Whale” was all about.

Apparently the fail whale is the name of the art shown when twitter’s website is down. It started out as a temporary little display to let everyone know what was going on, but soon became and brand. One that would be used for so many more things.

And so begins the story of the Fail Whale… (Note: This is the best version I’ve ever read.)
