Many of you have seen the “Top Commentators” plugin that has been circulating the wordpress blogging community for a while now, and I’ve noticed mixed ideas about it.
I’ve neglected adding it to my blog for whatever reasons, I don’t know. Was it because I didn’t want to look like every other blogger out there? Why not? If what they’re doing works, why not use it?!?
If you aren’t getting a great tool and using it on your blog or website in order help you gain traffic or readership because you want to stand out and be different from everyone else, then I suggest you really think about what you’re saying.
“The biggest players in my niche are using it, and I want to be original, so I won’t.”
Maybe they know something you don’t. Maybe they realize that what works, is what works, and it doesn’t matter if everyone is doing it or not.
I neglected adding “Top Commentators” to my blog, until I looked at it this way. And that’s when I decided I was wrong, and changed it for the better.
From now on, the “Top Commentators” will reside right above my posts, directly to the right of my “Popular Articles”. This gives everyone of you the chance to be shown to my readers above the fold. Not hidden down at the bottom of my sidebar somewhere so no one can see you.
You will be right there, in the reader’s face.
