Steve Job’s State Of The Mac Address
This morning, Steve Jobs (Apples CEO and Cofounder), addressed an audience at Apple Headquarters about the new “State of the Mac”. He starts off with telling everyone he wants to talk about new ways to build notebooks in new ways.
The current macbooks are built with aluminum casings, magnesium die-cast frames, and internal stiffening plates that support the trackpad and keyboard, but Apple has been looking for a better way to make them for years, which came together with the creation of the macbook air.
The new macbook Steve talks about is built much the same way as the macbook air, but with a few differences:
- Geoforce 9400M – This is a combination of the nividia chipset and graphics processors all in one piece. They were originally designed for a desktop, but Apple asked about putting them in notebooks, and they got their wish. The chipset is supposed to provide 5 times faster graphics than the current chipsets they are using.
- Glass Trackpad – Apple is introducing a new Multi-touch glass trackpad. The entire trackpad is the button and will feature options to create multiple buttons on it, as well as the support of single, two-finger, three-finger, and four-finger gestures.
The new macbook is thinner, and light, with a black bezel and an LED display.
The macbook comes in two models:
- 15.4 – inch, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo & the Nividia Chipset. – $1,999
- 15.4 – inch, with a 2.53GHz processor, 6MB of L2 cache, 4GB of memory, and 128 SSD. – $2,499
Both models will be sold in stores beginning tomorrow. Get yours here!
