I’m building a web interface for a new application and want to avoid complete page reloads when navigating between different tabs. I would also like to update the URL displayed in the location bar, so that users can easily get permalinks to the active tab.

One of the carnivals published today and I was relieved to discovered that the permalink converted automatically to the custom ones I’ve created. I don’t have to resubmit again! What a relief because they were quite a bunch.

Thanks Steve. I think it was right I changed the permalinks. I never liked the ?=123 stuff. It looked freaky to me anyway…lol

@WD Favour: You’ll have to resubmit your specific links again. They are listed in those carnivals one way, so you’ll have to let them know they’ve been changed.

This is one of the downsides to changing permalinks after you’ve been blogging for some time. The best time to set your permalink structure is obviously when you first start blogging. Just like anything else, like putting ads on your blog.

Hey Steve, I just changed my permalink structure and it’s absolutely fantastic! I just love the feel. Thanks man.
Now, a little worry, I’m quite active in the blog carnivals and get lots of traffic from those; do I have to resubmit the permalinks, or are they automatically updated at the carnivals?

I guess Steve, you must have seen my permalink structure before posting this! Lol!! I must confess that I suspected I should change it but I didn’t have any clue as to the advantages of the ones in my WordPress admin dashboard. So I left it hoping that someday, I’d know what to do about it. And then this!
Ur a darling man!
Now, as everyone can guess, I’m changing them right away.
So what other ideas do you have in that sharp mind of yours?
