In a world where mobile internet surfing and text messaging is becoming the way to do things, it only seems fitting that you try to capitalizing on this thriving industry.
There are many programs that let you create blog for readers to visit on their computer, and there are many programs and plugins that allow your blog to be easily viewable on mobile phones. So where does that leave us?
A program that lets you send your newest blog posts via free text messages! A program that I’m currently making $50 a month from with only 3 subscribers.
TxtVox is just the program. This company supports all the major players in mobile technology (i.e. Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, etc.).
Sign up as a publisher, create your subscribe widget, or banner, then place it on your blog. You can also link it to your feedburner account, so you can still keep track of the number of subscribers.
Oh, but wait! TxtVox doesn’t stop at only sending text messages of your blog to subscriber’s phones, they also display an advertisement on each post. This is how they make their money, and how you make money as well. TxtVox gives you a 50% revenue share of every ad click they get from the ads they send with each of your posts.
So, we have a service that not only lets you gain subscribers via text messaging, but also allows you to monetize those text messages.
It doesn’t get any better than that!
If you’re interested in seeing how it works before signing up, click my “Read on My Mobile Phone” button in my upper left subscribe section and subscribe to my blog via text messaging.
What are your thoughts on rss text messages?

This sounds like a great idea but does it really work for driving traffic to your blog? Do people relly use their phones to browse feeds? Its not popular at all in Ireland, its just too expensive to acess the internet through phones here. How cost efective is in in the US?

@webdesi3: In the U.S. you can get unlimited internet access on your phone for as little as $15 a month. It’s really cheap.
Alot of us even use our phones as wireless modems to connect our laptops to the internet when we don’t have other means of access.
Very cool. I like the idea of giving my blog readers a way to read my posts on their cell phones. And if I can earn some extra money, that’s great too. Thanks for posting about this. My next stop: http://www.txtvox.com.
I don’t think I’m ready to read blogs on my cell phone but I know a few people who just use their cell phone for EVERYTHING. Not that techy yet!
No way! I downloaded a game for my phone a couple of months ago and it cost me €20 which is about, what? $28? just for less than 5 minuites on the internet via phone, the game only cost €4, thats €16 for 5 minuites! Oh, I hate that Ireland is 10 years behind America!

Unfortunately there is no money to be made from referring people to TxtVox. The only way to make money is through the ads served to your subscribers.
