Digg is great, but it only really works if you’re a big name blogger and have the kind of following that can put you on the front page. Unless of course a specific post just goes viral.

But Twitter gives all of your posts, great or less than great a chance to be seen and decided upon by a larger group of people.

I don’t think that twitter is such a great tool. I mean sure you can spend a lot of time twitting and having fun but I feel that you’d get a lot more out of that time if you just focused on writing extremely interesting content and submitting it to digg.

Twitter is awesome, its great to get bits of info but does wonders to drive in traffic. LOL …. it so effective, that my friends MOM twits here to get her attention

My highest traffic days have been because of Twitter. Unfortunately, I can’t spend as much time there as I did those days, so my traffic has fallen back down.
These are some great tips that I’ll be putting to use. I have to find my comfortable level of working within Twitter.

Here’s a great example of how I use twitter for my business. I do a Twitter search. (http://search.twitter.com/) for specific keywords related to my niche. So lets say, for example, I have a site about “joke books.” I will look up people who have tweeted about a jokes by using the keywords like “that was funny,” “i heard a great joke” —-or anything related to my niche.

I’ll follow those people, establish a connection and then tweet links to my joke book site.

You can use rss to automatically tweet so that when you have a new post, it will post it on twitter.

That is just one of the many ways that I use Twitter.

I’ve recently added a twitter icon on my portal, however am now having second thoughts about it. The portal is subscription based and am now concerned that with twitter my subscribers will find a better platform to exchange the information that the portal is meant for, thus killing my business model. My portal is a link between empty trucks and available loads…Steven, do you think am right with my concern?

It works, it really does. I get about 200 hits a month on my blog that have twitter in the url.

Also, here’s a quick story: I posted on my blog something I thought editors would enjoy. When I twitted it, I had nary a single response. I added the hashtag #queryfail (which I had seen a lot recently) and I got 4 editor type follows and 5 editor comments on the post.

Twitter is so cool!
