It’s not even the beginning of a new year and it seems everyone is getting their blog redesigned. So I, not being one to let others do awesome things without chasing right after them, have decided to fall in line with everyone else, and redesign my blog.
You may have noticed a few minor changes to my theme when you got here. For instance… EVERYTHING!
My old design was (I’ll not lie) inspired by the John Chow’s blog, but it seemed really cluttered together and almost too much to swallow for new or seasoned visitors alike. This new design feels much more airy, and I feel like someone can really read my content without being overwhelmed with ads, or other garbage above the fold.
My ebook isn’t quite as prominent as before, but I still think it stands out rather well, and I’ve moved the Top Commentators to the sidebar, both of which has resulted in the contents of my posts to move a significant deal up on the page. Which means you can read even more content without having to scroll as much.
Here a screenshot of the “old version”. Please let me know what you think.

Hi Steven,
I noticed Jim Kukral tweet yesterday about the designs of his upcoming book. His link led me to a website I didn’t know existed http://99designs.com where you can setup a comp to receive designs for your logo for a prize (normally $100+)

Noticed a small problem with your comments box.
It seems to be too wide for the layout so you can’t see what you type at the right side.

Thanks for the catch. I added Brian’s Threaded Comments and had some issues with that, so I removed it, and now everything seems to be working fine. Not sure what happened, but thanks anyways.
I like your new template better than your old one. Two thumbs up here!
I like the new logo…simple with bold, contrasting color. Catches the eye without being overbearing. Nice job.
