- Handling Negative Comments On Your Blog
Negative comments, IMO, are absolutely great for any site!!!
I’ve had lots of fights on my site…particularly since I blog on issues that could be thorny and controversial – I mean, religious issues. In fact, I love the fights.
Sometimes, I’ve publicized the fights on Twitter and SU just to get others involved. I believe that if you are an open minded person and you are willing to learn from others, negative and contradictory views should be treasured at your site.To apply the things you recommend here – which BTW is the attitude of great bloggers – one must not be emotionally involved with one’s views.
An open mind is one of the greatest qualities any blogger can and should cultivate. - Passion vs. Demand When Choosing A Blog Topic
I think this is a relevant post, and timely too as it’s time to move into a new year. Most people will be thinking right now about strategies, effectiveness, efficiency, re-focusing, and so on.
In my opinion, this post is particularly relevant for those who want to monetize their blog and what Steve is saying here is absolutely correct.
I’ll add that, in my case, I had to choose niche that I particularly feel competent and passionate about, something that I can fairly compete with regardless of who’s on board. I’m able to write on not so ‘hot’ topic because monetizing the blog is not my primary purpose. I do make money from the ads there, but it’s not my primary source of income…I have other and far more richer offline streams.
I however noticed that there’s a significant increase in my search engine traffic now, and from referrers. On the long run, don’t sacrifice competence and passion. The long term ‘content-is-king’ strategy is still unbeatable.
Thanks Steve, and Merry Christmas to you and Boss and the rest of the family!!WD Favours last blog post..The Easy Way To Abundance and Wealth
- Being A Successful Blogger Isn’t All About SEO
I cannot help but conclude that the emphasis on SEO for bloggers, particularly newbies, is an unfair distraction. Blogging is about content.
First of all, discover yourself, what you are good at, what you are passionate and opinionated about…what you can easily become an expert on. As a Pastor, I made the decision to focus on inspiring and motivating people to achieve personal success and fulfilment. I discovered I could write endlessly on this and never run out of fresh ideas and perspectives….it just keeps flowing. I’ve been blogging now for less than 3 months and now search engine traffic accounts for more 5% on my site, and rising daily. I’ve hit front page on google, yahoo and other search engines out of millions of results on several of my key concepts.
Long term strategy of authenticity, originality, and relevance will ultimately triumph over short-cuts of superficial content.
This post is timely…but reflects a growing awareness in the blogosphere. Thanks for posting it.WD Favours last blog post..The Easy Way To Abundance and Wealth

Every time I think I’m somewhat techy I read something like this. The plugin for upgrade is wonderful!
I lost my feature to post at a future date with the last upgrade. I cant’ get an answer anywhere, tried forums, google, other wordpress websites…no answers, actually no responses! I don’t think it’s a bug in the upgrade but that’s when it stopped working. the post goes into never never land if I set the date to a future time. any idea where I would begin to look?
@BloggerNewbie: Let me look into it. To tell you the truth, I never use the future date option. I just save my drafts, and post them when the date comes.
