Attending A Web Conference Or Web Expo

You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been around for about a week.  The truth is, my laptop power cord from Dell (which is only a 1 1/2 years old) decided to die on me.  So I’ve been missing my link to the world for a really long 6 days.

But, I’m back now, and don’t expect me to dissapear like that again (unless of course, this power cord goes out as well).

As you know, this blog is all about showing you how to make money online with your blog through affiliate marketing, and other such things.  But I have a delimna that I need your help with.

I have a job aside from this blog as the Senior Web Developer and Graphic Designer of a startup company, and my boss comes to my office today and the conversation proceeds like this:

• My boss: Are you good at what you do?
• Me: I like to think so (laughing).
• My boss: No, I mean it, are you good at what you do?  Are you cutting edge?
• Me: Yeah.
• My boss: You seem like you are.  Is there any conferences about what you do that you want to go to?
• Me: (I sit bewildered)
• My boss: I want to send you to a conference.  You’re always in your own world behind that desk, you need to network with people and attend conferences to keep you up-to-date on what you do.
• Me: (I still sit bewildered)
• My boss: Find a conference or something that you want to go to and let me know.  I’ll send you there.
• Me: Ummm, Ok.

Then my boss turns from my office and leaves.

This was the oddest conversation I think I’ve ever had with him.

The job I work at and all the people I work with are more like family than co-workers or employers.  So talking to the owner and CEO of the company as well as eating with him, and hanging out at his house is an everyday occurance, but it still surprised me that he walked up to me out of the blue and asked me if I wanted to go to a conference.

So this is where I need your help.  I need to find an awesome web conference (preferably that might deal with blogging too *wink) that I can attend.  Even something along the lines of user interface design.  It’d be cool if it was in sunny California, or Florida, but it doesn’t have to be.
