Great ideas. This whole blogging thing is time consuming isn’t it? Good thing we love it, otherwise it was almost feel like work! I’m just getting into forums. I joined Bloggeries. I think I’m going to like this social medium!

Steven,
This is great man, I find that the majority of my traffic comes from Stumbleupon but the more time I’m spending on Twitter is starting to pay off. This is a valuable list, thanks:)

Some great tips there. I already do most of these things – but not as regularly as I should do. I think I’ll print this list out and use it as a checklist.
I’m following you on twitter now too – look forward to your updates

Thanks for the good list of action points… interesting to see that you put Twitter at the top of the list. I’ve been aware of twitter almost since it began, but still haven’t really managed to get into using its obviously fast-growing networking potential…

@Dan Foley: I get that response more than you’d think. There are a lot of people who don’t see Twitter as a powerful marketing tool, but My biggest referrer is Twitter.

You have great tips here! I msut say I have been MIA on Twitter … this Halloween is nuts with all the activities, but FUN! See ya at twitter …. Follow me on twitter at http://twitter.com/whateverebay

I’m glad everyone is using my schedule. Let me know how much your traffic improves from it.
Nice list. Actually, I am dong all you mentioned except for the email as I have no great list of email.
But I was surprised to see MyBloglog instead of Blog Catalog, because the latter is much better for me. There, you can start thread and the blogs are based on category.
Just my 2 cents though.

Great list, now I just need to do it all. Maybe printing it out like a checklist as others suggested will help. I’ve had good traffic from Twitter and have found good links there in return.
Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the list. Did anyone try advertising their blog via ‘bumber stickers’ on cars? I guess a single sticker can attract attention of several people on the road. May be it’s worth the price? Just a thought..

I have been testing new ways to drive traffic to my blog – trying to understand what works and what doesn’t. The particular tests have been around how search compares to social networking to offline PR to blog involvement. I have done some analysis in a recent post that you might be interested in: http://dominiquehind.wordpress.com/2008/11/01/whats-working-on-my-blog-stats-update/
It shows that the main search drivers to my blog are keywords around my name (ie the conscious thought). There are only a few unconscious keywords (ie unrelated) that have been driving traffic. Social networks is a great way for driving traffic – particularly when you reference your URL in your profile and then in your status. I read today that another way to drive traffic to your blog is via updating your profile image to include the URL of your blog – another way to drive traffic.
Great post and I would be interested in your thoughts.

Lets not forget about Content on this list. I know that word content is thrown around a lot, but keeping your blog fresh and up to date is very important as well!

Don’t you guys have a job? and what about a life after job?
@zano: Absolutely! But you learn better time management if you really want to succeed. There are 24 hours a day, and I can almost bet that you don’t use every one of them.
Steven’s right. If you chart your 24 hour days by hours and fill in 8 hours to sleep and then assign each hour to one or more “activities”, you’ll see that typically you tend to waste more time than you ever imagined!
I’ve learned to really multi-task, not only as a blog owner, but also as a mom and homeschool teacher and artist! It’s not about how busy you are, it’s about how you arrange it in your day to make the most out of your time!

Sweet and short and up to the point. Subscribed. Sticking your blog address on your car window would also drive traffic I guess. I haven’t tried this yet but was thinking off lately. What’s your thought?
DemoGeeks last blog post..Enhance your Internet Explorer 7 browsing experience with IE7Pro add-on
@DemoGeek: I run a website design and development business aside from this blog. I have WEB DESIGN in big bold letter accross my back windshield, along with a website address and a 1-800 number.
I get phone calls all the time from people that see me in drive-thrus or gas stations, that want to get a website designed.
It definitely works!
This is a great post steve i’ve seen your comments on other blogs. But what i do to increase my traffic is mainly commenting on other blogs and whatnot. But what you suggested im going to definetly give it a shot.
Good tips. Working smarter instead of harder, huh?

I do most of these already. I will try to spend more time on Twitter. The business card is essential. Thanks.
This is fantastic, Steven, I’ll be trying it all out. Glad to see Twitter is an essential tool, as I probably spend too *much* time on it..! Now I can simply say “I’m working”.

Yes, great list, but everytime I read such a list (yes, there are a lot of great list on seo blogs like this one) I think I would like to have more information about some of that points. For example about building a community in twitter, how do I do that? Never used it before (I know you think I’m an alien). And what about playing with social media? what kind of strategies do you people use to advertise your blog in social media? I would like a post about those things. Maybe there already are some, but not as clear as this one.
Ciao
Such a great tips. I am doing almost all of them. And it is most likely blog commenting works the best.
I am doing only blog commenting and forum posting. I need to start checking out other ways as well. But I am slowly experimenting and evaluating each method.
Very doable tips. I will surely do this slowly until I get the traffic that I want for my blog.
Great work! Will be back here next time.
Steven,
I just started blogging before approx. 4months ago..I was looking for something like this tactics and finally..I got it..Well, from today onwards, I am going on your way…Will sure let you know traffics statistics IF IT INCREASE

Good information. Thanks dude. I will work out on it everyday while start blogging job..
Look there, I was doing 3 of these and I thought that’s all that I could do. Of course I also do (occasionally) submit articles in article directories to advertise a link or two.
This one’s getting added into my saved pages folder. Thanks.
Thanks for the sharing. I should implement this guide to make my link building success..
Nice information! I just started reading your blog and i’m loving it. Thanks for the great info!
Thank you for sharing those tips Steven. I have been blogging since 2006 but until now I have not gain enough traffic. I also want to monetize my blog and you are very successful in doing that.
Definitely believe that that you said. Your favourite justification seemed to be

I certainly get annoyed while other folks consider issues that they plainly do not understand about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top as smartly as defined
out the whole thing with no need side effect , people can take

I intended to draft you one very small observation just to say thanks a lot once again with your gorgeous advice you have shared on this site. It’s quite pretty open-handed of people like you to make without restraint exactly what many of us would have marketed for an ebook in order to make some money for their own end, especially considering that you might have tried it if you ever considered necessary. Those principles as well served to be the fantastic way to fully grasp that most people have a similar keenness similar to my very own to learn significantly more when it comes to this matter. Certainly there are several more enjoyable times ahead for individuals who start reading your site. Discount Sunglasses http://www.newerahatsau.ne
